Curriculum Focus
This month, our curriculum will focus on:
- Shapes and Colors
- Counting and Number Recognition
- Letter Recognition
- Storytelling and Rhyming
Shapes and Colors
We will be exploring different shapes and colors throughout the month. The children will have the opportunity to identify and name various shapes, as well as differentiate between primary and secondary colors. We will engage in hands-on activities, such as sorting objects by shape and color, creating our own artwork using different shapes, and playing color matching games.
Counting and Number Recognition
Counting and number recognition will also be a major focus this month. The children will practice counting from 1 to 10 and learn to recognize and write the numbers. We will use manipulatives, such as counting bears and number puzzles, to make learning numbers interactive and fun. We will also incorporate counting activities into our daily routines, such as counting the number of children present or the number of apples during snack time.
Letter Recognition
Our little learners will continue to develop their letter recognition skills this month. We will introduce a new letter each week and engage in activities that promote letter recognition, such as letter hunts, letter tracing, and letter matching games. We will also read alphabet books and sing alphabet songs to reinforce letter sounds and names.
Storytelling and Rhyming
Storytelling and rhyming will be a fun and creative part of our curriculum this month. The children will have the opportunity to listen to and retell stories, as well as create their own stories using puppets and props. We will also explore rhyming words through games and songs, helping the children develop their phonemic awareness and language skills.
Parent-Teacher Meeting
We invite all parents to attend our Parent-Teacher Meeting on September 12th. This is an opportunity for us to discuss your child's progress, address any concerns or questions you may have, and collaborate on ways to support your child's learning and development. We value your input and involvement in your child's education, so we encourage you to attend this meeting.
Field Trip to the Zoo
On September 19th, we will be taking a field trip to the local zoo. This will be an exciting opportunity for the children to observe and learn about different animals and their habitats. We will provide more details closer to the date, including permission slips and any necessary preparations. Please ensure that your child wears comfortable clothing and brings a packed lunch on the day of the trip.
Show and Tell Day
On September 26th, we will have our first Show and Tell Day of the year. This is a chance for the children to bring in something special from home and share it with their classmates. Show and Tell helps develop their communication and presentation skills, as well as fosters a sense of community within the classroom. Please ensure that the item your child brings is safe and appropriate for school.
Reminders
Here are a few reminders to keep in mind:
- Label all of your child's belongings, including backpacks, lunchboxes, and jackets, to prevent mix-ups.
- Send a change of clothes in your child's backpack in case of accidents or spills.
- Please notify us of any allergies or dietary restrictions your child may have.
- Check and empty your child's backpack daily for any important notices or artwork.
